Mandatory ePrescribing in California
Since January 2022, California’s Assembly Bill 2789 requires that all prescriptions be transmitted electronically. This builds on California’s preexisting requirement, as of October 2018, that all prescribers of controlled substances are required to check the California Controlled Substance Utilization and Review System (CURES) prior to sending the prescription to the pharmacy.

iCoreRx and the California Controlled Substance Utilization and Review System (CURES)
California law requires pharmacists and prescribers check a patient’s prescription history through CURES when prescribing Schedule II, III or IV controlled substances for the first time and at least once every four months during the course of a treatment with a controlled substance.
